DESCRIPTION:

There are seven tourism regions, five of which are administered by Failte Ireland, the sixth by Dublin Tourism and the seventh, the Mid-West, by Shannon Development. The East & Midlands region of Failte Ireland comprises the counties:-  Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Nr. Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow.

Failte Ireland, through the network of regional offices, provides tourism services in five main areas:  enterprise support, visitor servicing, product development, an environmental and infrastructural role, and marketing.  The regional office also has an input, through its Regional Tourism Development Board, into the development of the national tourism strategy.

Enterprise Support:
The regional office will provide a range of supports to assist the enterprise base in upgrading their overall capability e.g. business capability, management development, innovation, employee training, etc. with the objective of building the product range, developing the product distribution system and raising quality standards.

Visitor Servicing:
The provision of a consistent and quality of service delivery to the visitor in relation to the access to information is at the heart of Visitor Servicing and will be complimented by modern information delivery mechanisms.  In addition the capturing of visitor information and attitudes regarding their holidaying experiences in the region will be part of the fundamental role of the Visitor Servicing department.
